How to Choose Your Running Shorts
Share
You've probably been there. Standing in a store (or scrolling at midnight) trying to figure out which running shorts are actually worth it. There are a thousand options, a hundred technical terms, and zero clarity.
We built Anonymous Morning because we felt the same way. So here's our honest take on what actually matters when choosing your running shorts.
1. Length
This is personal — but it matters more than people think.
Short shorts (2–3 inch inseam) give you maximum freedom of movement. Great for speed work, hot days, and runners who don't like anything in the way. Longer shorts (5–7 inch) offer more coverage and are often preferred for trail runs or longer distances.
Our Performance Aero Short sits at the sweet spot — short enough to move freely, long enough to feel comfortable on any run.
2. Liner vs No Liner
Most running shorts come with a built-in brief liner. It replaces the need for separate underwear and reduces chafing significantly.
If you're running more than 5km regularly, go with a liner. It's not optional — it's just smarter.
3. Fabric
Look for lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking fabric. You want something that pulls sweat away from your skin, dries fast, and doesn't stick to your body when things get intense.
Avoid cotton. Always.
Our shorts are built with technical fabrics that move with you — not against you.
4. Pockets
Sounds basic. But if you run with your phone, keys, or gels — pockets are everything.
Our Performance Short has side pockets deep enough to actually hold things without bouncing. Because nothing kills a good run like your phone flying out at km 3.
5. Fit
Running shorts should feel like nothing. That's the goal. No pulling, no bunching, no adjusting mid-run.
Try them on and do a few squats. Jump around. If you're thinking about the shorts, they're not the right shorts.
The Bottom Line
The best running short is the one you forget you're wearing. Everything else is just noise.
We designed our shorts for runners who take their training seriously but don't want to compromise on how they look doing it. Because you can have both.
